Jill Metiva Schafer snapped a photo of Officer Jeremy Thomas helping a homeless man shave and then posted it on her Facebook page.

“What a great Detroit cop!! This is right outside Comerica park. The game was a rainout but this officer went way above and beyond to help this man shave!!!” Schafer wrote.

Thomas, who has been with the Detroit Police Department for three years, told WXYZ helping people is just something he likes to do.

Thomas explained that the man he helped was given a razor, along with shaving cream and a bottle of water, by a woman and her daughter.

As Thomas approached the man, he was using a puddle to rinse off the disposable razor.

“Excuse me, sir,” Thomas said to Nelson.

Nelson replied: “I’ll leave. I’ll leave.”

Thomas told him he simply wanted to help. And his kindness, unknown to him at the time, was caught on camera.

“Nobody is better than the other person,” Thomas said. “They may be in a better position in life, but use that opportunity to take care of somebody else when you can.”
